PCTA Convention Marks 20th Year with a Shower of Prizes
In celebration of the PCTA Convention’s 20th year, PCTA Convention Over-all Chair Arnel Merilleno recently announced that twenty (20) 32-inch LCD television sets will be raffled off during the Fellowship Night on March 22, on top of many other surprise prizes.
“Aside from giving a big discount on the delegate’s fee, the PCTA board believes that this is a fun way of celebrating this landmark event in our association. This is also our simple way of thanking all our members who have been supporting us since this event was first held in 1993,” said Mr. Merilleno.
During the conference sessions, delegates can expect to win a mobile phone after each and every topic that will be discussed as an added incentive for them to attend.
“We always listen to our convention participants and many of them have been asking us to just have one session so they won’t miss on any interesting topic that will be discussed. We see this as win-win situation for all since both management and technical topics will be discussed alternately during the conference,” Mr. Merilleno explained.
Interested participants may download the delegate registration form from the PCTA website, www.pcta.org.ph, or request a copy from the PCTA Secretariat thru email at firstname.lastname@example.org. PCTA member companies will be extended a special discounted rate of Php3,000 per delegate, while the non-member companies’ rate is Php5,500. Walk-in delegate registrants will also be entertained at the registration counter located at the ground floor of Radisson Blu Hotel starting at 8:30 AM on March 20.
This year, the PCTA Convention will be ushered in by the traditional Golf Tournament in the morning of March 20, Tuesday. All delegates will then be welcomed in a party hosted by Creative Programs, Inc. (CPI), the event’s Platinum Sponsor, later in the evening.
The Conference officially opens in the morning of March 21, Wednesday, at the Niña Ballroom of Radisson Blu Hotel. The ribbon-cutting ceremony of the Exhibit follows right after. The Opening Day Luncheon is hosted by Fox International Channels and at 2:00 P.M., the PCTA General Membership Assembly will start. During this time, the cable operators will elect the members of the PCTA board who will hold office starting June 1, 2012 until May 31, 2013.
The whole day plenary session on Thursday, March 22, starts at 9:00 AM and features discussions on digitization strategies, the role of cable TV in the National Broadband Plan, leveraging on Geographic Information System (GIS), marketing strategies for operational profitability, optimization approaches in the digital era, fundamentals of effective subscribers’ billing and management system, cable TV system valuation, and service reliability and availability.
On March 23, Friday, the session will be started by a presentation from Knowledge Channel Inc. as part of the Corporate Social Responsibility session. The management session follows with discussions on topics such as managing personal finance effectively, harnessing renewable energy for cable TV, and Total Quality Management (TQM).
Simultaneous with the management session, the traditional Cablelympics – a quiz show competition for technical personnel – will also be held in the morning of March 23. The top three winners of the contest will be awarded a medal each, a cash prize, and premium items.
