Leaders of the Philippine Cable Television Association (PCTA) met last August 22 with newly-installed National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) Commissioner Ruel V. Canobas to offer their best wishes for his new appointment.

Commissioner Canobas graciously received the PCTA group, composed of President Allan Dungao, Chairman Ralph Casiño, Treasurer Felipe Bince III, Corporate Secretary Amelita Ledesma, Directors Jose Lobregat, J. Manuel Dabao, Fernando Morales and Pacito Manlangit, and Secretary General Anne Manalansan.

The PCTA group took the opportunity to apprise the new commissioner with the present state of the cable television industry and for his part, Comm. Canobas assured everyone that the agency will be fair and prompt in disposing of any concern. He said the NTC will not hinder the growth of the cable television industry but will even promote it. In turn, Comm. Canobas asked the help of the industry in providing simple services to the public, such as information dissemination on important matters.

Commissioner Canobas, a lawyer by profession, is a graduate of the Far Eastern University Law class of 1991, and previously served as political affairs undersecretary at the Office of the President. He hails from Tanauan, Batangas.
