PCTA TECHNICAL COMMITTEE
AT WORK WITH TESDA
The PCTA Technical Committee was consulted by TESDA for the drafting of a Training Regulations for the Cable industry sector. After a series of meetings at the PCTA office, the working group held their first workshop at TESDA office last Wednesday of July 18, 2007. The working group is composed of Mr. Jun Mateo-TESDA Specialist 2, Mr. Zoilo Galang Supervising TESDA Specialist, Mr. Samuel Calado, Jr. Senior TESDA Specialist, Ms. Luz Victoria Amponin-Chief TESDA Specialist, Engrs. Pat Manlangit, Jules Ventura and Fernando Morales of PCTA Technical Committee.
The workshop which was started at 9:00 o'clock in the morning was opened by Ms. Luz Amponin. She brief us on what we are going to do and what to accomplish at the end of the day. The rest of the hours was presided over by Mr. Sam Calado, Jr.

The training regulations refers to the package of competency standards, national qualifications, training standards documents, assessment and certification arrangement; including assessment tools and curriculum. Upon completion of the draft by the working committee it will be submitted for validation by a nationally represented group of individuals or organization engage in the subject industry for comment. Since PCTA membership comes from Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao, it might be chosen by TESDA to comment on the draft. After the validation, the draft will be indorsed to the TESDA Board of Directors for approval. The approved draft is now the National Trade skills Standards for CATV Installer and CATV Technician.
TESDA will then promulgate and publish the National Training Regulations Standard, a copy of which will be filed at the Office of the National Administration and registry at the University of the Philippines Law Center. It will be posted at TESDA website for public access and roll out to all regions for implementation.
The next workshop is scheduled on July 27 and 30, 2007 at TESDA office.
