PCTA's TECHNICAL SEMINAR
HEATS UP DAVAO CITY
The Philippine Cable Television Association (PCTA) successfully conducted a highly informative two-day Technical Seminar for cable television installers and technicians and for broadband technicians and engineers last September 20-21, 2007 at The Royal Mandaya Hotel in Davao City. The seminar was held in cooperation with the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC).

The PCTA organized the said seminar to provide a great opportunity for technical personnel to gain more knowledge about the development of the technical aspects of the cable TV business and be updated with the latest innovation in cable TV technology and services. The seminar was presented by a panel of dynamic and experienced industry practitioners led by Technical Committee Chairman Engr. Julian Ventura, Co-Chairman Engr. Fernando Morales and members Engr. Pacito Manlangit, Engr. Joseph Arguelles, Engr. Lito Mapolon, Engr. Neil Tagabi, Engr. Arlan Pascua and Mr. Allan Mudina.
The seminar is divided into two levels, the Technical Seminar Level 2 is for cable installers and technicians and the Level 3 is for Broadband technicians and engineers. Among the topics discussed on the first day in Level 2 are HeadendSystem (by Engr. Fernando Morales), Outside Plant (by Engr. Julian Z. Ventura), and Signal Leakage Detection (by Engr. Joseph Mr. Arguelles). On the second day, Power Supply and Maintenance (by Engr. Julian Z. Ventura), Two-way System and System Sweeping (by Engr. Arlan Pascua) and Drop Installation (by Mr. Allan Mudina).

In Level 3, the topics presented on the first day are Digital Headend (by Engr. Solito Mapolon), HFC Technology (by Engr. Neil Tagabi), and HFC Design (by Engr. Arlan Pascua). On the second day, Television System (by Engr. Fernando C. Morales), Conditional Access (by Engr. Solito Mapolon), and Data Communications (by Engr. Joseph M. Arguelles) are to be discussed.
