TESDA Approves Training Regulation
for Cable TV Installation NCII
During the 55th Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) Board Meeting held last April 20, 2007, the body approved Resolution No. 2007-11 prioritizing thirty five (35) titles for training regulations development for the year 2007 which includes Cable Television Installation.
To this effect, Ms. Irene M. Isaac, Executive Director of Qualifications and Standard Office wrote a letter to PCTA President Allan Dungao requesting for a meeting to discuss how TESDA and PCTA can tie up for the development and establishment of the Competency Standards and Training Regulations for CATV installations and servicing.
In response to the letter, Mr. Dungao assigned the PCTA Technical Committee, to coordinate with the TESDA staff and in a meeting held at the PCTA office on July 5, 2007, the working group was organized composed of Technical Committee Chairman Julian Ventura, Directors Fernando Morales and Pacito Manlangit on the part of PCTA, and Mr. Zoilo C. Galang, Mr. Samuel E. Calado, Jr. of the Competency Standard Division and Mr. Arsenio A. Mateo, Jr. of the Curriculum and Training Aids Division on the part of TESDA.
On July 18, 2007, the working group was briefed by Ms. Luz Victoria Amponin, chief of the Competency Standards Division at the Qualifications and Standards Office regarding the procedure to be undertaken. The PCTA group (Engr. Morales, Engr. Manlangit, and Engr. Ventura) signed a LETTER OF CONFORME from Ms. Irene Isaac, Executive Director of Qualifications and Standards Office, appointing them as Technical Experts in the development and validation of Training Regulations (TR), Competency Standards (CS), Competency Assessment Tools and Competency Based Curriculum (CBC) for the Telecommunication/Media Sector, specifically Cable Television Installation NCII and Cable Television Servicing and Maintenance NCIII qualifications. From that time on, the working group met twice a week, every Wednesday and Friday, at the QSO, TESDA Central Office until the draft was completed.
In the 26th Standard Setting and Systems Development TESDA Board - TESDA Secretariat Consultation meeting held last November 14, 2007, the Training Regulations for Cable TV Installation NCII was deliberated upon and fortunately, it was favorably recommended to the EXCOM - TESDA Board for consideration.
Last November 19, 2007, during the 53rd EXCOM - TESDA Board Meeting, the Board endorsed favorably the Training Regulations for Cable TV Installation NCII for consideration and approval by the TESDA Board.
Finally, during the 58th TESDA Board Meeting held on November 22, 2007 at the TESDA Board Room, the Board passed Resolution No. 2007-40, approving and promulgating the Training Regulations for Cable TV Installations NCII.
